COALITION POUR LA DÉFENSE DES DROITS HUMAINS VIVANT DANS LES CAMPS DE RÉFUGIÉS (CDH/VICAR)

CDH/VICAR expresses deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in the Mulongwe and Lusenda refugee camps in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Refugees residing in these camps face persistent threats to their safety and well-being, including exposure to violence, theft, and limited access to protection mechanisms.

The insecurity is compounded by the lack of consistent humanitarian presence and the withdrawal of essential services in these camps. Vulnerable populations, especially women, children, and the elderly, are disproportionately affected, living under constant fear for their personal safety and that of their families.

The coalition emphasizes that the ongoing insecurity not only violates the basic rights of refugees but also undermines efforts to provide them with a stable environment conducive to health, education, and livelihoods. CDH/VICAR calls on the Congolese authorities, humanitarian actors, and international stakeholders to strengthen security measures and protection frameworks.

Urgent action is needed to ensure that refugees in Mulongwe and Lusenda can live free from violence and intimidation. CDH/VICAR urges the international community to uphold its commitments and support measures that guarantee the safety, dignity, and rights of refugees in these camps.
